EHS Coordinator (Oklahoma City)

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) coordinator will report directly to the Safety Manager with a dotted line to the Environmental Director. The EHS coordinator is responsible for carrying out the environmental and safety programs and protocols established by the Safety Manager and Environmental Director as directed. They will demonstrate personal responsibility for, and ensure compliance with, all EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives within the team. They are also responsible for training employees on these EHS protocols and enforcing them if them are not being followed properly. Furthermore, the EHS Coordinator will work closely with both the Safety Manager and Environmental Director to prevent workplace injuries and compliance-related incidents.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following are general responsibilities associated with the position as directed: 

• Train managers, supervisors, and other leaders in the Company about EHS standards.

• Ensuring operations complies with all Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), EPA, federal, and state regulations Review and update existing Company safety, environmental, and emergency action policies and procedures, as instructed. 

• Stay up to date on changes in environmental regulations and industry best practices.

• Conduct regular safety, house keeping, and environmental audits and inspections by way of regular visits to all SMI sites.

• Prepare and submit required environmental reports, and liaise with regulatory agencies as necessary.

• Work with Environmental Director to develop, implement, and maintain a SWPPP for every SMI site as required, identify and implement corrective actions for SWPPP deficiencies, and provide training to employees on SWPPP procedures.

• Target EHS business risks through monitoring Lead and Lag indicator data and develop focused corrective action plans, as well as enforcing compliance-related standards with site-level leadership.

• Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of storm water discharges.

• Facilitate and/or schedule risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and workplace inspections with EHS advisors as necessary based on expertise.

• Respond in a timely manner when workplace incidents happen to partner with site leadership and assist in conducting and documenting investigations for all workplace incidents. Support site leaders in determining root cause(s) and implement effective corrective actions to prevent similar incidents. 

• Lead Safety Meetings/Trainings on a weekly basis at assigned yards.

• Help investigate all spills and releases, and develop corrective actions to prevent any further occurrences.

• Ensure record keeping/documentation of completed EHS training for all employees.

• Take inventory of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other Safety supplies on a regular basis. 

• Responsible for ordering all PPE and other safety supplies as needed. 

• Take inventory of Torching and Welding tools/equipment on a regular basis and order tools/equipment, collect damaged cutting torches, and send them in for repairs as needed.

• Coordinate the on-site Hearing Conservation Testing at assigned yards.

• Record/document equipment operator certification training for all operators at assigned yards. 

• Work with Safety Manager to create machine specific Lock Out – Tag Out (LOTO) procedures for equipment at assigned yards.

• Conduct hands-on LOTO training for employees
