Systems Engineer – Level II

Description

  • Maintain the infrastructure and integrity of customers’ systems
  • Serve as escalation point for solving technical problems and issues
  • Provide insight and input on the design of technical projects
  • Act as a resource on the implementation of technical projects
  • Analyze customer needs and engineer solutions to meet those needs while understanding customer constraints
  • Possess and maintain knowledge of network and server environments including (but not limited to) Server Operating Systems, Virtualization Technology, E-Mail platforms, Cloud Services, Networking and Security. 
  • Perform administrative duties including but not limited to logging hours, maintaining customer documentation, and using company-approved data entry system.
  • Communicate with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Draft and maintain documentation of technical processes for internal and external use
  • Serve as Technical Mentor to Junior Technicians.
  • Exercises independent judgment in the interest of the company as a substantial part of the work day
  • Obtain training and certifications to further goals of self and the company.
  • Provide ideas/insights as to new products or services that the company can offer its clients.
  • Perform after hours customer support as required.
  • Meet (at a minimum) company Service Level Agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, SonicWall CSSA, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP Understand network topologies, IP routing, switching, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in IT engineering
