Youth Specialist in San Francisco Bay Area
January 1, 2024 – June 15, 2024
Time Commitment: This is a full-time, 6-month, 900-hour program from January 1, 2024 – June 15, 2024. Members commit to a 40-hour work week, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekends depending on the project. 120-340 of these hours are dedicated to professional development.

Gain invaluable experience working in diverse and vibrant Bay Area communities, while developing skills in curriculum design, effective behavior management strategies, and dynamic public speaking and facilitation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or a lawful permanent resident of the United States
- At least 17 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) and commit to a 6-month term of service
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish/English, not required
Responsibilities:
- Assist students and youth in cultivating the essential skills required for success in both their academic journey and life beyond the classroom
- Provide academic assistance and homework support to program participants at schools
- Deliver comprehensive support to clients at community-based locations, including case management, resource referrals, and the nurturing of independent living skills
- Design and lead engaging youth-focused lesson plans and activities
- Maintain accurate attendance records and reporting procedures
About BAYAC AmeriCorps
BAYAC AmeriCorps actively partners with over 20 schools and community organizations within the San Francisco Bay Area to empower and support youth and families. BAYAC Members commit to full-time service, dedicating 40 hours a week to underserved communities across the region. Through this paid work experience program, individuals seeking to enhance their careers in youth development and education can join us in roles such as after-school educators, classroom aides, academic coaches, mentors, tutors, health educators, case managers, and enrichment activities coordinators, all while fostering meaningful engagement, skill-building, and emotional and social development for the youth we serve.
In the East Bay we are partnering with organizations and schools such as Alameda County Office of Education, Youth Spirit Artworks, Community Education Partnerships, Summit Public Schools: Summit K2, EDMO, Summit Public Schools: Summit Tamalpais High School and City of Berkeley: Berkeley High School Health Center.
We are also partnering with other organizations and schools in San Francisco such as Mission Graduates, The New School of San Francisco, YMCA of San Francisco/KIPP Bayview Academy, and Huckleberry Youth Programs.
