An Accounts Payable Specialist performs non-routine, moderately complex accounts payable functions. Pays bills for the organization and maintains the accounts payable ledger. Analyzes and processes transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for an Accounts Payable Specialist:
- An Accounts Payable Specialist reviews all invoices and aligns them with appropriate documentation
- Calculates and verifies amounts such as discounts and percentages
- Validates proper company and G/L account code allocations
- Communicates with vendors and departments regarding questions or information needs
- Enters and/or reviews invoices in document management software
- Verifies that all invoices include approval within purchasing guidelines
- Processes payment batches, verifying appropriate invoice and posting date, and creates A/P checks.
- Ensures all disbursement policies, procedures, internal controls are understood and functioning within all departments
- Maintains accuracy and completeness of vendor files
- Prepares monthly accruals
Qualifications for an Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Education/Certification
HS diploma/GED preferred.
- Experience for an Accounts Payable Specialist:
Experience in an accounting function in a health care environment preferred.
Experience in DocuWare and/or Great Plains preferred.
