Adult Protective Services Specialist I/II Job Overview:
Do you want to make a community impact by advocating for elderly and disabled adults? Utilize your professional expertise to offer protective services and write customer centered service plans. Adult Protective Services Specialist I/II Job Duties:
- Receives intakes and completes investigations on incapacitated adults alleged to be in situations of abuse, neglect, self-neglect or exploitation; assesses each adult’s social, emotional, physical, mental, environmental and financial circumstances
- Interaction with other community professionals, such as doctors, lawyers, court officials, clients, families, and alleged perpetrators.
- Processing and investigating reports and official documents of maltreatment
- Reading caseloads and gathering information
- Assisting clients in person and via phone with various inquiries related to cases
- Develops and conducts in-service training, public presentations and educational workshops for law enforcement, medical professionals, civic organizations and other community agencies.
Adult Protective Services Specialist I/II Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Patience, professionalism, empathy, honesty, tolerance, good time management skills, analytical skills, and creative problem-solving skills required.
- Candidate needs to be willing to drive a state vehicle or personal vehicle.
Adult Protective Services Specialist I/II Field Requirements:
Standing for long periods of time (2 hours), ability to navigate cluttered homes and exit promptly in case of emergency, ability to climb and descend stairs. Ability to wear protective gear such as gowns, smocks, rubber boots, masks, eye wear and head gear, if necessary.
