GENERAL FUNCTION
Performs manual labor, semi-skilled and custodial work. Work is usually performed under
supervision through oral and written work orders, work performed is inspected frequently.
Constant supervision is not necessary for all position, work may be repetitious in nature and
once learned can be carried on without difficulty. Performs other work as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF THE WORK
Cleans apartments, washes walls and makes minor repairs under the supervision of others.
Cuts grass, picks up paper and debris, cleans ice and snow from sidewalks and public areas,
and performs general grounds keeping duties.
Performs clean-up of all junk and garbage, that will not be picked up by the Department of
Sanitation.
Operates some power equipment such as power mowers.
Drives trucks and picks up maintenance supplies from Central Stores.
Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing washers; unstopping sinks, tubs and
commodes; replacing light bulbs and blown fuses; replacing broken windows and screens.
Repairs fences and assists with pouring concrete walks and curbs.
Reports maintenance repair needs and unsafe conditions.
May assist higher maintenance classifications in performing other duties such as painting,
carpentry, masonry, and electrical repairs.
Checks and repairs smoke detectors.
Performs custodial services, cleaning, mopping, etc., in offices, apartments, and public areas.
Inspects apartments after tenant moves out to determine damages and repair needs.
Prepares vacated apartments for cleaning; cleans apartments for occupancy.
Must have the ability to perform routine spray jobs for vermin control and exterminating for rat
control.
Performs other work as directed by supervisor or management.

REQUIRED REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age of 18.
High school graduation or its equivalent (GED).
Possession of a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Must pass an employment medical examination (Pertains to new employees)
