Medical Assistant (Tucson)

In this role, you will be assigned to a provider and initiate the patient’s visit. You will be responsible for the admission assessment and communicating your findings to the provider. You will be communicating with patients, entering accurate information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and maintaining an environment that is welcoming, calm, and quiet for our patients and their families.

Duties in the Clinic:

  • Load and Input Data for the visit
    • Chief Complaint
    • HPI
    • Plan
    • Imaging
    • All procedures
    • UDS
    • Med count
    • Review A2 PMP
    • Review last UDS for inconsistent vs. consistent
    • Schedule patients
    • Contact Pharmacy
    • Phone calls (Patient meds, imaging, review)
  • Pull chart information for your assigned provider.
  • Bring patients back into the room, introduce yourself, and initiate assessment.
  • Assessment includes: Height, Weight, BP, Pulse and PO2. Document assessment into Intergy.
  • Assess patient’s current pain level and reason for visit.
  • Medication Reconciliation is done at each visit.
  • If a UDS is needed escort to restroom and obtain sample. Maintain chain of custody.
  • Provide a brief summary of findings to the provider. Include current pain levels, reason for visit, and patient concerns.
  • Order UDS in Intergy and print requisition. Place sample in designated area for lab pick up.
  • Escort patient to discharge staff when visit is complete.
  • Clean and stock the exam room after each patient visit and prepare for the next patient.
  • Respond to task and voice messages throughout the course of the day.
  • Manager medication refiles (non-narcotic). Inform MD of any issues.
  • Keep area neat and clean and HIPPA compliant.
  • Empty shred documents into locked shred bin.
  • MIPPS

Duties in Procedure Area:

  • Introduce yourself to the patient and escort to the procedure exam room.
  • Provide comfort to the patient when anxious.
  • Completing the pre-procedure assessment includes BP, P, PO2.
  • Ensure the patient has post procedure transportation.
  • Assisting the patient into a patient gown if needed.
  • If the patient is being sedated have supplies ready for RN to start the IV.
  • Documenting pre-procedure assessment in EHR.
  • Assisting the patient into the procedure room and onto the procedure table.
  • Provide the physician with needed patient information.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualification:

  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant Program.
  • Has knowledge of Electronic Health Care Records.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
