(RTD Represented Employee Benefits: Please refer to the Labor Agreement included in the above link for details.)Operates Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) through the wash and pre-wash bays. Thoroughly cleans all sides of LRV as required by the Rail Maintenance Supervisor. Service any District vehicle, including checking and topping off all fluids, sand boxes and adjusting tire inflation pressures, etc. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulation of RTD’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

The first 90-days of the probationary period will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Afterwards, the majority of available shifts will be from 7:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. with an added $2.25 per hour shift differential. Other shifts will be available for bidding based on seniority.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the loading and unloading of lead weight bars and test equipment when required.
  • Cleans maintenance pits and bays.
  • Performs visual checks of vehicles to identify vehicle damage and/or mechanical/electrical problems and report to supervisor.
  • Replaces torn or soiled seats as needed.
  • Accurately record fluids and/or sand consumed.
  • Operates district vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Removes old route, monthly passenger news brochures or other materials and replaces them with new ones as directed.
  • Cleans individual light rail vehicle pieces, parts and sub-assemblies as directed by the Rail Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Performs all phases of interior and exterior cleaning of the LRV as directed by the Rail Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintains clean shop and work areas.
  • Uses chemicals in a safe manner following RTD safety policies, procedures and environmental guidelines.
  • Waxes, buffs, details interiors and exteriors as assigned.
  • Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD working effectively in a diverse work environment

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver License with an acceptable driving record or ability to obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to become certified in Light Rail Vehichle operations.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination by obtaining a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate for a minimum one (1) year qualifying period, and then maintain a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate thereafter. Medical Examiner must have a National Registry number.
  • Ability to pass a required Physical Ability Assessment (PAA) related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to certify as a forklift operator within the qualifying or probationary period.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high performance level of dependability, reliability and safety.
  • Ability and desire to perform the above tasks in an efficient manner, and to learn basic mechanical skills and safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience driving heavy vehicles.
  • Previous experience working with industrial cleaning and supplies.

Pay Range:$22.22 – $25.03 Hourly

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085), RTD posts all salary ranges.  However, the expected hiring range for non-represented positions is equal to range entry to a maximum of 75% of the range (e.g., 150k – 175k), based on the candidate’s credited and verified work experience and education.   Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all relevant and verifiable work experiences, education, and licensure when applying for jobs with RTD.
