(RTD Represented Employee Benefits: Please refer to the Labor Agreement included in the above link for details.)This position is responsible for investigating and documenting incidents for criminal prosecution and/or referral to management, and the security of employees, patrons, bus and rail systems, transit centers, Park-n-Rides, and special events. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy and is an armed sworn position under CRS 16-2.5-146.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL:
- Enforces Colorado State law through observation, patrol, citations and arrests, as needed.
- Performs investigations relating to theft, violence in the workplace, crimes on RTD property, and crimes against patrons and employees. Processes crime scenes and performs evidence collection and analysis.
- Performs comprehensive facility and counterterrorism threat and vulnerability analyses of the organization’s properties and special events, and provides comprehensive written reports, procedures and implementation plans to protect employees, patrons, facilities and equipment.
- Assignment to mobile patrol, foot patrols of properties, trains, buses and special events or other duties as required.
- Conducts security-related training programs for employees, contractors and other transportation workers especially in the area of counter-terrorism activities.
- Reviews incident reports involving employees; investigates and resolves incidents; prepares written responses.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- An associate degree in business, public administration, management, criminal justice or related field preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Proficient in all aspects of the investigations process.
- Proficiency with the criminal justice system; includes federal, state, and local law enforcement regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to use sound judgment.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including afternoon and overnight shifts, weekends and holidays.
- You must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

- Must possess a minimum of two years patrol duty experience, consisting of street related duty, within the last three years while employed full time by state, county, municipal or sheriff’s department. Academy training time or those employed by a correctional facility, federal, district attorney’s office or military police agency is not applicable experience
- Retired officers or officers separated from an agency due to resignation or layoffs must apply within one year of separation and must have been in good standing at the time or separation of the agency.

Salary Step Scale:
PO3 $70,797.27 Completion of second full year ($34.04 Hourly)
PO4 $75,752.50 Completion of third full year ($36.42 Hourly)
PO5 $81,054.86 Completion of fourth full year ($38.97 Hourly)
PO6 $86,728.71 Completion of fifth full year ($41.70 Hourly)
PO7 $95,400.87 Completion of sixth full year ($45.87 Hourly)
This position is eligible for a $4,000 signing bonus. The new-hire signing bonus pays out in two $2,000 installments upon these milestones: * Three months of continued employment. *Six months of continued employment. If the employee resigns employment before their 1 year employment date the employee must return or pay back the bonus.

Pay Range:$61,838.00 – $95,848.00 Annual
